I’m Rose Tapper, founder of RT Admin Solutions. I have been running my Virtual Business Support business now for over 6 years. Before this, I ran a business selling Kitchens and Bathrooms for the past 25 years with my late brother. We grew the business from just ourselves to employing over 25 staff and project managing a multitude of subcontractors on retail projects. Finally, selling the business in 2016. Over this time, as you can imagine, I have gained a wealth of experience.
I understand first hand the challenges small business owners face, particularly as it grows and you take on staff, you have to be adaptable, and you have to learn to deal with everything. Management, Sales, Accounts, Admin, Advertising, and HR. You have to learn fast, it’s likely, you won’t enjoy doing all of those tasks, and you are often overwhelmed. You have more important things to do than deal with your public liability insurance or your health and safety review. Whilst my specialist area is the kitchen and bathroom industry, and I work with several clients in this area, I have discovered that many tasks and processes are similar across any small business. Currently, I support a variety of businesses, several coaches, an HR Consultant, a dance school, a mortgage advisor, and a marketing agency, so variety is the spice of life, they say, but so many similar challenges come up time and time again. I am lucky enough to have worked with some of my clients pretty much since I started, so I am fortunate to be part of several teams.
Many business owners start on projects, they have an idea, they know what they want to achieve, and then run out of time to see it through. I have helped numerous clients complete those types of projects by putting the ideas into achievable actions, so together we can see them completed. My children are older now, but I recognise I missed some valuable time with them when they were younger because I was consumed by the family business. It doesn’t have to be like that, with all the technology we have at our fingertips a work-life balance is achievable. We are all much more used to remote working now, most people have embraced it, and the tech we have now to assist gets better and better. Work can be done anywhere, I love to travel in my VW bus around Europe with my family. Running this business allows for both, you will often find me logging in from my travels!
